  • 4L80e reverse problems are some what common. The reverse band sometimes wont fully engage due to the servo pin being too short. It is one of the most common issues and here is how you fix it.

Thanks for the info brother, I daw another video where you can do this without pulling the valve body, what do you think about that? I'm planning to try it and also just extend my rod to 4.980 which GM says is maximum length overall.

Thanks for watching. I've never pull3d the reverse servo without dropping the valve body. Hopefully all goes well for you.

I try to set all of mine between .060 to .080 with a new band. Once the friction material beds in and wears a little it will be .010to .020 larger clearance. I don't kno2 what factory spec is but most of the big name builders say anything more than .100 is way too much. Hope that helps and thanks for watching

@@autovationFtWorth No that helps a huge amount. Mine is used the end wasn't all mangled on the end like that one. The engine blew up on my truck, so in the prosses while I had the engine out I pulled all the stuff out of the front of the transmission, to pre-emtivly address common issues and make it tougher. I made the tool to check it out of a th400 servo cover...
