With Halloween – and the release of Geek Mom: Projects, Tips, and Adventures for Moms and Their 21st-Century Families by Jenny Williams, Natania Barron, Corrina Lawson, and me – fast approaching, here's a costume-making strategy perfect for lazy time-challenged, budget-conscious moms everywhere.
My trick? Sweats, and tights, fabric pens, and basic sewing skills. The best part of my sweat suit-based costume technique is that they can be worn (either disassembled or as is, depending on your child's preference) for months to come. It's a great way to teach older children how to sew (and ease them into creating their own costumes, as my kids do nowadays). Whether they want to be Spider-man or Superman, Princess Leia or Princess Merida, this project can be customized to any child and any hero.
And in chilly climes like mine, they're also nice and warm!
Directions for this "Supereasy, Supercheap Superhero Costume" project can be found by clicking below. It comes from the Secret Identities chapter of our book.
