"So. You gonna marry me, or what?" Ten years ago, that's how I proposed to my husband. We were riding an El-train in Chicago at the time. Taken out of context, it doesn't sound like a particularly romantic way to pop the question, but trust me. Those seven little words transported us back to our first night as a couple when, after almost two years of unresolved sexual tension, I finally asked him, "So. You gonna kiss me, or what?"
Not every marriage proposal requires so much backstory before witnesses start ooh-ing and ahh-ing over the happy ending. I'm obviously not much of a romantic, but even I cheered and teared-up the first time I watched the video of Isaac Lamb's all lip-synching, all dancing, unironically enthusiastic proposal to his girlfriend Amy Beth Frankel.
