Fan group Studio Paint released a video last week to show off its upcoming reimagination of popular role-playing game Final Fantasy VII, which it is developing on Epic Games' Unreal Engine.

Final Fantasy fans have been clamoring for a remake of what many call the series' best offering ever since E3 2005, when publisher Square Enix revealed a tech demo showing off what Final Fantasy VII would look like on the PlayStation 3. Square Enix has kept mum since then, though it recently announced that it will release an HD port of Final Fantasy X for PlayStation 3 and the upcoming PlayStation Vita.

It's neat to see how the 1997 PlayStation RPG would look with more modern graphics, though the animation is a little bit clunky. Also, I'm pretty sure this version of Tifa violates the basic laws of physics.

Studio Paint may have to worry about legal ramifications here. Two years ago, Square Enix sent a cease-and-desist notice to Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes, a fan-driven remake of Super Nintendo RPG Chrono Trigger.
